Snacks & Smoothies
Kids love to snack. On average, they gobble up 850 between-meal nibbles every year. The quality of all those snacks can make or break a child’s diet — consider that some kids are in the habit of grabbing cookies, highly processed salty snacks, and soda or other sugary drinks when their stomachs growl. To improve the nutritional GPA of snack time, we offer some of our favorite recipes including Chocolaty Pumpkin Bars, Lime ‘n Honey Black Bean Dip, and Juicy Strawberry Jigglers, and Mom’s Mango Smoothie. Our suggestions are designed to add more fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, and calcium-rich foods to the diet … things many kids don’t eat enough of.
